POSITIONS: Computer Teacher, GED Teacher, English Teacher

SUMMARY: Teachers are working with families in the areas of GED preparation; computer education, and learning English language skills. Schedule is one or two nights per week from 6-7:30pm Monday through Thursday. Family University will run through the end of May.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach, reinforce, remediate, and ensure mastery of academic content with individual, small groups and whole class of learners in the development of language acquisition skills
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities based on approved curriculum
- Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all learning activities
- Ensure all learners have the necessary support needed to access instruction
- Fosters relationships with community networks and external partners and work collaboratively with them to provide learning opportunities that develop/enhance learners knowledge and skills
- Monitor student progress
- Promoting an "I can do it" attitude
- Comply with school, district, city and statewide policies, regulations, and laws
- Communicate effectively, consistently, and professionally with students and colleagues
- Provide support, accommodations, and attention to all students
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment that is focused on the support of learners, fosters strong and positive relationships with students, and leads to student retention
- Adhere to rules of student confidentiality, and the use of "good judgement" relative to all staff/student interactions
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of adult learning theories
- Bachelor's degree
- Current Oregon Teaching License with proper endorsements
- Digital technology and literacy tools
- Knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and others applicable to the work performed and various social media platforms
- Second language acquisition "best practices"
- High School Equivalency preparation and learning standards related to attainment of HSE
- Literacy, numeracy, digital literacy skill development strategies including reading, writing, speaking, listening, finding, evaluating, organizing, creating and communicating
- Solution based approach to dealing with student needs, problems and/or conflict
- Bilingual Preferred
WAGES: $30 per hour, or per diem
