HOURS:  8 hours/day - Monday 5:00 AM-1:30 PM, Tues- Fri 4:30 AM - 1:00 PM

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of a food service supervisor, the assistant cook performs a variety of routine duties related to the production and serving of food to students and staff in a school center. The Cooks helper performs routine cleaning of kitchen facilities and equipment on a daily basis. Work can be performed on a relatively independent basis under a fixed time schedule daily. The Cooks Helper needs to have skills which include the ability to communicate and work effectively with fellow workers, knowledge of related food preparation duties, professionalism, organization, and problem solving. Must be able to stand in for Head Cook as needed.       

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE (Minimum Qualifications): 

• Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described within this job description
• Food Handlers card required
• Knowledge of National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs
• Experience in cooking and batch cooking
• General knowledge of food preparation
• Able to lift, push and pull 40 lbs on a continual basis

 

COMPENSATION:

• Wage Schedule: $18.12-$23.46/hr
• Work days: 180 (10 month position)
• Medical, dental and vision insurance
• Life insurance, AD&D, Long term disability included (Optional insurance available)
• Personal and sick days
• JCSD 509-J pays the employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
