POSITION SUMMARY
Support a safe and secure learning environment for students, staff, and visitors at Madras High School and their events. Responsible for campus safety supervision to prevent, detect, and confront threats to students and the school and to help maintain discipline and orderly conduct within the school. Also responsible for monitoring school property before, during, after, and at school-sponsored events, ensure school security and pupil safety, monitor student behavior, and control and report violations of campus policies and behavioral standards. Follow protocol for reporting and escalation of situations where needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Two years of experience dealing with adolescents, including a background in community corrections techniques, juvenile parole and probation, and/or law enforcement, is preferred.
- Possesses or can attain and maintain a DPSST Unarmed Security Officer certification (DPSST).
- Completed an I Love You Guys training.
- Prefer prior experience working with a diverse population of students.
- Ability to obtain and maintain first aid/CPR training/certification.
- Ability to meet physical standards (a physical exam may be required).
- Able to assist, console, and manage students who may be emotional, distraught, or frustrated.
- Ability to maintain effective and positive working relationships with students, community, and colleagues.
- Possess a valid Oregon driver’s license.
- Participation and successful completion in district-sponsored in-service related to this position
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have standards of moral character as required of teachers(OAR 584-005-0005)
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and supervise students before, during, and after school and at school-sponsored events to ensure school security and pupil safety, monitor student behavior, and control and report violations of campus policies and behavioral standards.
- Assists administrators in supervising students in the buildings and school grounds at all times.
- Enforces all policies relating to student discipline and attendance.
- Reports to the appropriate administrators violations of campus policies, i.e.: truancy, driving, parking, smoking, drug abuse, etc.
- Be available to handle or assist in stopping fights, resolving conflicts, and similar problem situations.
- Monitor parking areas.
- Greet visitors and ensure they are properly registered.
- Conducts regular building security checks.
- Monitors school cameras and assists administration in locating events on film.
- Directs the safe and smooth transition of students between locations throughout the school.
- Approaches all strangers on campus without authorized business or purpose and notify the administration of trespassers.
- Follow and maintain knowledge of all district policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding information related to students and their families
- Acts as an appropriate role model for students
- Represents the school and the District professionally in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
- Maintain self-control at all times and react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
- Work cooperatively with law enforcement agencies in relation to campus security issues.
- Maintain communication radios.
- Serves as a liaison to local law enforcement.
- Maintain personal records of events that occur.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal/Assistant Principals.
COMPENSATION
- Wage Schedule: $26.03 - $32.64/hr
- Work Days: 180-190 (10 month)
