This position is to develop, coordinate, and teach in our newly developed behavior program. All special education teaching positons currently include a $10,000 annual stipend.  In addition, this position will include 20 extra paid days for the develpment and coordination of the program.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Student Support Specialist/Behavior Teacher provides support to students enrolled in an elementary intensive behavior program within Jefferson County School District 509-J. The Student Support Specialist/Behavior Teacher also supports families in obtaining access to other community services. Responsibilities include the planning and management of daily activities to meet the academic/social skills/behavior goals established for students. Additionally, the Student Support Specialist may provide small group social skills instructions and collaborate with other professionals in meeting the diverse academic/social/emotional/behavior needs of students. The teacher participates in the hiring, training, and direction of supported educational assistants.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's Degree.
  2. Valid TSPC endorsement in special education, or willingness and ability to obtain.
  3. Training or willingness to gain training in crisis intervention and collaborative problem solving
  4. Have standards of moral character as required of all Oregon licensed educators (OAR 584-005-0005).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Masters Degree in social work, counseling, or clinical psychology.
  2. Three years of successful classroom teaching experience with elementary students with challenging behavior.
  3. Knowledge & experience with alternative learning methods, thorough knowledge of functional behavioral assessment and experience with designing behavior intervention plans.
  4. Training and experience with cognitive behavioral interventions

 

COMPENSATION

  • 190-day contract
  • Salary: $45,724-$92,239 (2024-25 salary schedule TBD)
  • 20 extra days (stipend) for the creation and coordination of this program
  • $10,000 SPED Stipend
  • Support to earn SPED endorsement
  • Family medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Life insurance, AD&D, Long term disability included (Optional insurances available)
  • Sick leave and Personal/Emergency leave
  • JCSD 509-J pays the employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
