POSITION SUMMARY

The Head Cook performs and directs the routine duties involved in the production and serving of food daily to students and staff. The Head cook is also responsible for ensuring that cleaning kitchen facilities and equipment are completed daily. Work is completed in a fixed time schedule daily. Ability to communicate and work effectively with fellow workers, knowledge of related food preparation duties, professionalism, organization, and problem solving are key components required for this position.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE (Minimum Qualifications)
All cooks helper or others employed or contracted in that capacity must:

• Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described within this job description
• Knowledge of Federal/State regulations, sanitation, and HACCP procedures
• Current Food Handler’s Card or ability to obtain one upon hire.
• No experience required. Skills and abilities are learned on the job.
• Able to lift, push and pull 40lbs on a continual basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years for experience National School Lunch and school breakfast programs.
• Experience in the foodservice industry.

COMPENSATION

• Wage Schedule: $19.83 - $25.78 per hour
• Work days: 180 (10-month position)
• Medical, dental and vision insurance
• Life insurance, AD&D, Long term disability included (Optional insurances available)
• Personal days and Sick days
• JCSD 509-J pays the employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
