POSITION:  ERC Special Education, Educational Assistant I              Probationary/Permanent

LOCATION:  Jefferson County Middle School

CLOSING DATE:  Open Until Filled

START DATE: Soon as possible

HOURS:   5.75 Hours per day

WAGES:   $13.50 / hour

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

At the direction of the building administrator, assists teachers by performing a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well-being. Duties involve working with students individually and in small groups assessing performance, reinforcing instruction, motivating learning, assisting with classroom management, clerical, and other non-instructional work.

QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

• Must be highly qualified (See below)
• Collaborative team player and positive attitude
• Experience working with Middle School Students Preferred

To be “Highly Qualified”, an Educational Assistant requires a high school diploma or the equivalent, and one of the following:

• An Associate's degree
• Two years of study at an institution of higher education - 72 credit hours
• Passed the District Assessment for educational assistants in the areas of reading, writing, math and pedagogy
