JOB TITLE: JROTC Army Instructor (AI)
REPORTS TO: Principal
LOCATION: Madras High School
FLSA STATUS: Certified
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Retired Non-Commissioned Officers or Chief Warrant Officers
- Certified as an AI by Cadet Command
- Meets Army standards, to include clearing of CNACI
- Able to obtain an Oregon teaching license
JOB GOALS:
To support the development of student skills in citizenship, self-reliance, leadership, responsiveness to constituted authority, effective communications and physical fitness.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Army Instructor:
- Assists in implementation of the JROTC program at Madras High School
- Implements and supports the Master Training Schedule
- Maintains cadet records
- Is accountable for the maintenance and use of government issued equipment and materials.
- Conducts Leadership Education Training I, II, III and IV
- Implements cadet activities to include:
- Color guard
- Drill team
- Leadership camp
- Marksmanship team
- Adventure training
- Social functions
- Awards/honors program
- Public/community service
- Assists the preparation of the program for biennial formal inspections
- Plans lessons consistent with subject/course taught
- Uses a classroom management system which is fair and consistent
- Shows respect for students
- Uses appropriate subject matter and materials
- Adjusts teaching technique to meet individual needs
- Informs all students of planned means of evaluation
- Uses a variety of assessment techniques; e.g. observation, testing
- Is flexible in working cooperatively with others
- Provides students with appropriate instructional feedback
- Adheres to and enforces building rules and procedures
- Adheres to and enforces District Policy and Rules & Procedures
- Adheres to State Law and Oregon Administrative Rules
- Attends District and building meetings
- Other responsibilities as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
10-month employee; Salary and benefits to be according to the Junior R.O.T.C. Instructor’s contract with the Board of Directors.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation.
