POSITION: Dean of Students     (Probationary Permanent Position)                                               

 

LOCATION:  Warm Springs K-8 Academy

 

CLOSING DATE: Open until filled

 

POSITION BEGINS:  August, 2016

 

SALARY: $38,308 - $75,196          (Full Benefits)  

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

Assists building administration in the planning, implementation and assessment of the school wide student management program and contributes to a positive school culture and climate.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports the Assistant Principals with discipline referrals, and student consequences.
  • Teaches individual and group of students, strategies and skills including conflict resolution, responsibility, and problem solving.
  • Consults with, and assists, the school staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations.
  • Plans, develops, and implements individual student behavior contracts in collaboration with parents and building administrators.
  • Acts as a resource for staff with discipline issues and/or assisting teachers in effective classroom management practices.
  • Works with identified students for the purpose of modifying inappropriate behaviors.
  • Assists the administration in the implementation and evaluation of school wide discipline procedures that comply with District policy and ensure equity for all students.
  • Assists the administration on disciplinary issues that may result in suspension and/or expulsi
  • Assists in developing programs and/or activities to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies.
  • Assesses, monitors, and provides feedback to students on their academic and/or behavioral progress as necessary.
  • In collaboration with other building staff, collects and reviews data related to school discipline goals.
  • Works in cooperation with the youth services team, if applicable, which may include the juvenile court system, community resource person and/or agencies that provide services for students and families. Keeps building staff up-to-date on students, as appropriate and as needed.
  • Provides information on school discipline plans, programs, policies, and the role of Behavior Specialists.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Takes precautions to provide for the health and safety of all students.
  • Takes precautions to secure and protect District material, equipment, and facilities.
  • Participates in activities related to school functions and/or the educative process that occur outside the regular school day, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Extra Duty possibilities of coaching and/or athletic director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A valid and current Oregon Teaching License
  • Knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction
  • Three years of teaching or counseling experience
  • Experience with PBIS implementation and increasing student achievement as a building leader
