POSITION: English Language Development Teacher (Temporary)
LOCATION: Schools within Jefferson County School District 509J

SALARY: $38,308 - $75,196
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Serves as a specialist for students who are learning English as a second language. The ELL teacher works in a program designed to provide direct English Language Development instruction in the classroom, small groups and/or individual student settings.
- Assist general education classroom teachers with selection of appropriate curricula and the development of appropriate strategies to meet the unique needs of English Learners.
- Manages a caseload, and maintains regular communication with ELL students, their parents and appropriate staff members.
- Responsible for language proficiency and literacy testing and family notification as required by the District, state, and federal guidelines.
- The ELL teacher works under the supervision of the principal and administrator in charge of Title III. To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program, as designated by the School District, in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher also maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.
- Supervises and develops lessons for educational assistants and measures student progress
- Create and/or Coordinate School-wide or Community Programs to Support Students and Families.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a current Oregon teaching license with ESOL endorsement
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work positively and cooperatively with others.
- Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff or members of the community
- Ability to draft simple correspondence and some routine reports; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weigh measurement, volume and distance.
- Knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction
- Knowledge of and experience with effective instruction and assessment.
- Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing educational/continuing professional development.
